The remote desktop connection is not working from Vista to XP, after installing some updates for Windows Vista and Mcafee at the office and XP and Mcafee at home? There are no error message showing up and there is not a single thing happening after entering the password and clicking yes to connect without verifying. Can anyone tell me how do I deal with this trouble?
Have you tried to telnet port to 3389?

You will need to find out the remote site IP address and then you can do telnet remoteipaddress 3389? Did you get that?
Thanks for the help but I do not know anything on how to do the telnet? Can you tell me which application to use? I have tried to type it in the command prompt and also in internet explorer but nothing sees that telnet? I am knowing the IP address however so, can you tell me where should I type in the "telnet remoteipaddress 3389"? Thanks.
Even I was having the same issue and found out that the problem was with the Service Pack 1 of Vista, so when I uninstalled SP1 then the connection was working properly. Try it out and it will definitely work for you as well.
