Merge two comanies domains
I have a situation with two comanies that each have their own AD 2003 domain.
Comany A(domaina.com) is buying company B(domainb.com) I know they should be
..local.
The goal is to get domainb to be a sub domain of domainA IE:
domainB.domainA.com
Is this possible and is there a best practive for this?

The term is child domain. More domains = more admin work. Have you looked
into setting up the new company as a site within the existing domain?
Either way you are going to have to use ADMT. Search for it on the MS site.
You would create a virgin domain as a child domain in the forest you want to
keep then use ADMT to migrate the users to the new domain or you would use
ADMT to migrate them to the existing domain and set them up in a site. I
would strongly suggest you look into setting them up as a site within the
existing domain.

No, this is not technically possible. You might be able to rename
one of the domains so that the NAMES look like this (if it is in
Win2003 Forest Functional Level) but they will never be in the
"same Forest".
You can also use TRUSTS to allow the sharing of resources between
these domains (and renaming is not necessary for this.)
Other than that, you can migrate the users of one company to a new
domain in the other forest.
Re: Merge two comanies domains
MS said it can be done by creating domainb.domaina.com and migrating the
original domainb.com to the new subdomain.
DomainB has an exchange server, it should migrate easily shouldn't it?

My message which you quoted below also told you that migrating the users
was possible.
It still remains technically impossible to JOIN the existing forests.

You might want to ask this on an Exchange list -- my experience with
migrating Exchange to a new forest is limited.

Re: Merge two comanies domains
In addition, the OP may want to more specifically define what "migrate"
really means to himself and his company. It is important to be clear and
concise with regards to migration goals because there are a lot of confusing
terms and expectations that surround such a task.
I have yet to see a time when Exchange was involved when it was a good idea
to do anything other than a migration vs. a join. The results are always
better when you have a single domain/forest implementation of Exchange.
My $0.04 worth anyway.
