I need some help to install only optional updates on my system. I am using Windows Vista here. I cannot locate any option updates. I do not want to install everything making my system to perform a bit lower. For example just adding the silverlight update and ignoring the other one. There must be some direct way of doing this.
That is a common things. There is no way directly available in Vista I think by which you can choose optional updates. Instead of that you can simply download and install them manually one by one. It is the best way of dealing with the same. The updates are available on Microsoft site. You just require to note down the kb article. Search on Google and you will land on the official download page. You can then run the setup from there.
Yes the only way to run optional updates is locating it for download and then running the setup. Windows Update provides you all essential stuff that are needed for your system to perform well. To some extent it is not at all worth to avoid it. It is always better if you install updates because it makes your system stable and allows you to perform well. It is also not possible for you to identify which update is important and which is not.
I am scanning a number of Microsoft kb article to find answer on the same. There is a option available. I am using Windows XP, and I do not want to overload my system with tons of updates. It makes it more slower. I had recently formatted my system due to slow performance and now it is working fine. Some updates are essential for the hardware that you had installed in your system. Whatever updates which are mentioned for security allow them.
There must be some kind of tool that can manage Windows Update. This would make our job much easier. I am on a bigger network where around 6 computers are configured together. I am using WSUS. The best feature of this service is that you can approve the updates. And only after approving the updates reaches the other works station or else it still remain blocked.
I am having a issue on my system. Always there are updates listed and they do not installed. I keep the updates on automatic installation settings. But still I can see common updates a week before. I am not able to figure out till today why it is not installed. There must be some kind of way to fix the same.
