Pictures and video thumbnail preview
Is their a way to modify the settings of files to not see a thumbnail preview
of a file when you click on it? I use a folder/file hide software but the
files can still be found by a search. You can't open them but it gives you a
small preview of the file in the lower left of the search window. However it
only does this for some of them so it must be a setting.
Re: Pictures and video thumbnail preview
The thumbnail provider for a file can occur in several places in the
registry. It will always be a key labeled
'{E357FCCD-A995-4576-B01F-234630154E96}'. It may be found under the file
type:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.asf\ShellEx\{e357fccd-a995-4576-b01f-234630154e96}]
@="{9DBD2C50-62AD-11D0-B806-00C04FD706EC}"
or under the ProgID:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\icofile\shellex\{e357fccd-a995-4576-b01f-234630154e96}]
@="{43372ada-945b-4713-82db-d217b338ae6f}"
or under a 'perceived type' that encompasses multiple file types:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\image\ShellEx\{e357fccd-a995-4576-b01f-234630154e96}]
@="{C7657C4A-9F68-40fa-A4DF-96BC08EB3551}"
So find the filetype you want to eliminate thumbnails for & delete the
{E357FCCD-A995-4576-B01F-234630154E96} key.
