I want to load the FAX component but am getting an error that says "The file "fxscfgwz.dll" on Windows XP Home Edition CD is needed . After putting the XP CD into "D" OR E readers nothing happens. The "Copy from" slot displays "&$\i386". I cannot solve this issue, can anyone please help me out? Thanks.
You can try to reset the "Installation Path":
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\...
..Windows\Current Version\Setup: Source Path
..WindowsNT\Current Version - Source Path
After that you can change them to the directory with the XP Files For Pro Edition.
Can you try to browset the CD and if the file is found, then copy it to the C:\Windows\i386 folder. Or, when it is prompted, then type in the path to the folder on the CD. It may be D:\i386, E:\i386, or D:\Windows\i386 e.g. I've never tried this so I don't know that it would help.

Ans then put them in a folder on your hard drive and when the install asks, browse to that folder. I downloaded them from some place but don't have the address anymore.
After you get "The file "fxscfgwz.dll" on Windows XP Home Edition CD is needed" then you need to type your drive name where you XP CD are loaded: In my case it was D so I wrote D:\i386 and press enter and it worked, the missing file was found and the FAX component was loading, I hope this also will help you?

Have you tried to google for the dll files that you are looking for.
Well, that was obviously my first approach - and also how I found this thread! And I did found dll-download.net it has at least fxscfgwz.dll and may have the other ones too, but they are not much use without the other files which are NOT dll, and for which I have not been able to find any download links despite intense Googling.
Therefore the simplest would be if [email protected] would be willing to pass on the files, either by uploading or as an e-mail attachment.
As you may have seen further back in this thread, some uploaded them to http://download.yousendit.com/6E9B367300F3FA5F, so that [email protected] could download them from there - but that was back in May, more than four months ago, and that link has of course expired long ago.
Now, since these files are so valuable, and cannot be obtained from Microsoft, I feel it would be invaluable if they could be kept permanently available by storing them on some site which could be findeable by Googling. Yahoo lists, for instance, do have storage space for permanent storage, accessible by members of the list - but is there any more general storage site, I wonder, the contents of which are findeable by Googling?
Believe me, I have tried every method known to man to find these files, including eMuling, but with no success. And, despite all my neighbours, nobody has an installation disk! A commercial computer specialist might have one, but would of course charge me for his services.
Another question in this context: I imagine that it is possible to find these two gentlemen's e-mail addresses somewhere on this forum (if they have made them visible to list members), but I have not been able to find out how: a general search for the list member's handle only brings up just that, not any information as to how to access his profile. Could anyone tell me what I have missed?
I have just checked my own profile and made my e-mail address visible to members, so I know that this option is available. But it is not obvious on the list webpage how to access the profile of other members!
So I only hope that [email protected] may be reading this, and may be willing to get in touch and help. Or did anyone else download those files, by any chance, in the short timeslot that they were available for downloading through Claggy's kind assistance?
