I installed 2Gb RAM on my PC and Windows shows less than half?

I had purchased 2 sticks of 1GB RAM installed on my system. The computer came with 512 before which I removed. Now the issue lies with reading all the ram. When I check in Properties it shows me only 894MB of ram. The others is invisible. I added ram to make my system perform better, but that failed to work. Any information why this is happening. Thanks.

It can be due to some kind of restriction in bios. You must ensure that full amount of ram is utilized. There are chances that in bios the ram usage is limited and due to which you are facing the issue. Also the ram that you had inserted is not fixed properly. If it is loose then you must tight that and see whether it is properly fixed or not.

well thts easy you have to write in the bios upgraded ram amount it will probably say 1024 mb still you must type 2048 mb (for 2 gb). To access the bios menu at the start of the computer when its booting you press a key probable f1 or f10 or f12. thanks

This only happens if you are using a higher amount of ram. Like using 4GB on 32 bit will give you limited ram only. I think there is some issue with bios. Check that the ram that you had bought are both of same configuration. If both are different then this kind of problem arises.
