Office XP (2002) Compatible With Vista
I’m already having a genuine copy of Office 2002 XP which I was using on my XP SP3 computer since years. Now I have upgraded the system to Windows Vista. So before installing Office XP 2002 I would like to confirm whether this office edition works fine with Vista because on web I dint found it in the list to work with Vista also it seems like Office XP isn't Certified for Vista. Please provide your suggestions soon.
Thank you.
Re: Office XP (2002) Compatible With Vista
It is not on the certified list because Outlook 2002 wont work fine with Vista. I mean, thought it can be installed and it may run but email account passwords are not saved. After you enter the password during the first email check, Outlook will remember it until you close down Outlook. This is because Outlook used the protected storage interfaces to store passwords and these are no longer supported in Vista So if you are going to use Outlook on Vista, better upgrade to minimum Office v 2003.
Re: Office XP (2002) Compatible With Vista
Thank you very much for such a great description friend. But the problem is I have used Office 2003 and dint found it as comfortable as Office 2002 XP. Also my important works are related to outlook, excel and word. So I have to use outlook on this Vista PC but don’t want to leave Office 2002 because of its simple UI.
So isn’t there any way we can make it work with Vista?

There is one way using which you can give it a try. Install Office 2002 XP and try to run Outlook as an administrator. Right click on Outlook shortcut or Outlook.exe and choose Run as Administrator. If you don't see the Run as Administrator command, Shift + right-click to enable the Run as Administrator command. OLAutoPW automates the Network Password Entry for POP3 and IMAP accounts in Outlook 2002/XP SP3 on Windows Vista/Windows 7.
