Have you installed McAfee or Norton on your system? If yes, just make sure that email scanning is OFF. Because these security suites scans all your emails and though they wont be malicious, the block them. Most of the time even after disabling Email Scanning or disabling the Antivirus itself, such problem occurs. So better you should just remove them and install AVG free edition. It is compatible with Windows Mail.
Apart from this, also make sure go to Tools, your account properties and under server tab, make sure the box for Log on using secure password authentication is unchecked.,

Thanks a lot for the quick reply buddy. Even i started getting the same problem on my Windows mail suddenly. tried various things but nothing helped. Finally removing McAfee fixed the problem. Thank you very much.
