32 bit vs 64 bit internet explorer 7
Hello all.
Quick question. I've got Ultimate edition (64 bit) installed on my machine
here. I noticed that I've got both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of IE
available to me. How would I set the 64 bit to be the active version? (on
both the internet link on the start bar, and the quickstart button at the
bottom of the screen).
Thanks in advance.
Dan.
Re: 32 bit vs 64 bit internet explorer 7
You may not want to do that until a lot more websites support 64bit ActiveX
controls. Anyway, the bitness of the browser makes no difference in
accessing websites. There is no advantage.
Re: 32 bit vs 64 bit internet explorer 7
Yah, I noticed the headaches where if I run the 64 bit version, some
plugins won't run, while the 32 bit version they are fine.
I'd assume the 64 bit browser will let me run 64 bit plugins (when they
show up), which should let certain things, like video playback etc run
better. Am I wrong on that one?
In any case, given the headaches from hitting sites that need 32 bit IE to
proceed, I'm sticking with it for now.

Re: 32 bit vs 64 bit internet explorer 7
That is ridiculously innaccurate the 64 bit runs in a native 64 bit
mode vs. the 32bit protected mode, thus allowing you to take advantage
of a 64bit processor instruction. Do people understand that Windows 95
as well as 98 & ME were not true 32bit operating systems? anyone notice
a difference in dependability and overall performance gains by switching
to 2000 or XP in true 32 bit environment?
'64-bit - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia'

Educate yourselves people before you take the word of net trolls of
people who just don't know any better but like to discuss things they
do not truly understand.
Sidebar: and the PS/3 as well as the Xbox360 both use 64-bit processing
VS. *32*-*bit* Hopefully the 32-Bit generation will soon be a thing of
the past and in time maybe we will see 128, 256 and so on. Once people
start to understand the basic concept of the advantages and start to
get the real clue, rather than buying into all of the hype and
misleading information, either; for or against.

Hi, GetTheChad.
For the official word from Adobe, see:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/view...f6c9&sliceId=1
Which says:
Adobe Flash Player is not supported for playback in a 64-bit browser.
However, you can run Flash Player in a 32-bit browser running on a 64-bit
operating system.
Of course, Adobe makes many things besides Flash. But that URL should get
you close enough to find the answer for other products.
