Hi, we are running a Windows 2003 SBS with Active Directory. Since past four days I don’t know what went wrong suddenly our Active Directory database started Corruption Error logs in Event Viewer. It says
“Event ID = 467
Category : Database Corruption
Event ID : 467
Description :
NTDS [696] NTDSA : Index INDEX_00020078 of table datatable is corrupted [0]”
Can somebody please tell me what is the problem and how can I fix it? Many thanks.
Ok, just try out the following steps and see what happenes:
- Boot into Active Directory Restore Mode
- Run ntdsutil.exe from a command prompt
- Click File > integrity
Apart from this, do an offline defrag (you will find this option in ntdsutil). That should repair the index. Let me know the results.

For those who are having this issue and event ID 476 an offline defrag fixed our active directory issues when ndtsutil recover and integrity checks did not work.
