How to backup contacts from damage android phone

My friends phone fell from my hand. And the screen damaged completely. I can see cracked lines on it. I am quiet sure that it is not working. I want some help here to backup all my data from it. Especially the contacts. I had tried looking around on web for some solution but I am unable to find. When I connect the device I can see the internal storage. Even the memory card is detected and I can copy paste files in it. But I am not able to work on it. I want my contacts and it is very hard to use it. Is there a way through which I can backup all the contacts from it.
