I need a good text editor for Windows 7

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. I only have Microsoft Word Starter. Can you recommend a good Freeware Text editor?

There are many powerful text editor for Windows 7 such as Notepad++, TextPad, E Text Editor, EmEditor, UltraEdit, etc. You can choose from any of this software which works pretty well in the operating system.
