Nvidia Graphics card not detected in device manager (Error code 45)
Hi guys,
I'm facing an issue with laptop GPU. I have a Toshiba Qosmio X870 laptop with on board Intel HD graphics and a dedicated NVidia Geforce GTX 670M GPU.
Recently I noticed that device manager does not show Nvidia GPU but available it selected show hidden devices. I have tried resetting windows to factory settings, disabled on board graphics, etc but to no avail.
Can someone please assist.
Thanks,
Wags

I think that you might have installed some other video drivers in your Toshiba Qosmio X870. You need to go on the official website of Nvidia and download the latest drivers for your laptops GPU and install it properly. After a restart the GPU will be detected and start to work as it should.
Re: Nvidia Graphics card not detected in device manager (Error code 45)
Thanks for responding. I did download the latest version of the drivers from Nvidia website as well as from Toshiba.
The drivers from Nvidia is not installed and the installer says no supported hardware found. Drivers from Toshiba didn't get installed too but without any error message. Would it be that the GPU is dead? How would I know without opening the hardware? Its not even 2 years I bought this laptop.
Thanks,
Wags
Re: Nvidia Graphics card not detected in device manager (Error code 45)
How many years old exactly your laptop is? Prior to this problem was the NVidia Geforce GTX 670M GPU was working fine and detected in the laptop? If yes, then this time there might be some issues with the internal hardware. You should try to send it for repairs to Toshiba and you wont be charged anything since it might be under warranty.
Re: Nvidia Graphics card not detected in device manager (Error code 45)
Thanks mate. Had bought it in Dec 2012 with one year limited standard warranty. I guess as you mentioned, Toshiba service centre is the only option to find out.
Is the GPU soldered to the motherboard? If not, I may buy a new one but if yes, not sure what option I would have
Re: Nvidia Graphics card not detected in device manager (Error code 45)
Yes, the GPU is onboard on the motherboard and it cannot be removed. You also didnt mention whether the NVidia Geforce GTX 670M GPU was working properly previously or not. And it is always good to go for service warranty rather than trying something else and ending up with a damaged product.
