Alienware says video game on Linux will grow by 20-30%

According to the manufacturer Alienware, the market for video games on GNU/Linux will grow, partly because of the arrival of Steam Machines running on SteamOS.

Previously quoting, video game architecture of GNU/Linux has encountered a significant change following the development of an adapted version of the download platform Steam. Also, the library of compatible games is very important, attracting new users.

If this upward trend is felt, it is expected to continue next year, according to the manufacturer Alienware. Marc Diana, Product Manager of the company, said the site PCGamesN that "more games are running on Linux today than there has ever been on the market, and it continues to grow."

Based on the operating system SteamOS (GNU/Linux architecture), Diana said there will be "more than 700 OpenGL games", which is a rather an honorable catalog. The Steam Machines, planned in 2015 will incorporate this OS.

"Imagine how many people play today on Linux and how many people will play once Steam Machines will be sold," the official said. "There will be 20 to 30% growth. Overnight."

Recall that Alienware has planned to launch the first "Steam Machine" called Alpha, but that will run on Windows 8.1 operating system.
