I/O Device Error on Simpletech 500GB Hard Drive?
I've had this Hard drive for years, although it has about 150gb of pictures and movies, I'm just recently having problems with it. I'm running windows 7 and when I plug in the hard drive, it starts the auto play and ask to scan and check for errors on it or continue without scanning. I've tried scanning and fixing errors several times but always have the same problem. When I open Drive f: I can see all my files but I can not delete, or move and files, it starts the process but get a I/O devce error 0x8007045D. I have tried setting the permissions which gives me an I/O device error as well, also running an antivirus on it which midpoint will just freeze. When I plug the hard drive the computer as well starts to run slow and starts freezing up. I would really like to try and save some pictures and videos from the hard drive before I wipe it but everytime I try anything it just gives me an error or freezes. Please Help!!
Re: I/O Device Error on Simpletech 500GB Hard Drive?
The error 0x8007045d that you are getting is related to some registry error. So what you can do is download and install an application called Ccleaner and then run a full scan to fix the error in your system. If this doesnt work then you can try to turn off Indexing Service on the external drive and select all content in the drive and then uncheck read-only in the properties panel. Do a restart and then check whether this method has solved the problem for you.
