Cant install Java Runtime Environment on windows 8 64 bit?

I am running windows 8 64 bit in my system and I have been trying to install Java Runtime Environment. I don’t know what’s going wrong and I am getting below error message when I am trying to Verify Java Version.

I have tried installing it several times but I am getting same error message again and again, is there anything that I can try out to fix this?

Don’t know what’s going wrong in your case, even I have installed Java Runtime Environment on windows 8 64 bit and I dint faced any error as such. Its installation went fine and things are working quite well, you can try uninstalling Using JRE version 1.8.0-ea-b52 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM and just installing jre-7u6-windows-i586 and jre-7u6-windows-x64 and check out if you are getting any luck with that. Other than that make sure that you have enabled it’s plug-in in Internet explorer, best of luck.

So now I’ve uninstalled JRE version 1.8.0-ea-b52 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM and have installed jre-7u6-windows-i586 and jre-7u6-windows-x64 only but no luck. When I am testing them in any browser then I am getting same error message again. I have made sure that it is enabled in Internet explorer. I am just running out of ideas now and want to know if there is anything that I need to check out or perform in order to get rid of this error?

I will suggest you to download JDK for 64bit (jdk-7u6-windows-i586.exe / jdk-7u6-windows-x64.exe) from here and install Java Runtime Environment. I have downloaded jdk from the site I’ve linked and I did not had any issue while carrying out the installation and verification. I also wanted to add that other plugins are not supported in metro except flash so make sure that you are using it with desktop version of internet browser. Just try it out and feel free to ask if you have any queries further.

You can try out what Rodriguez_bronx has mentioned but if the above solution doesn’t help then you can download both installers mentioned here. It is for windows 7 but some people have confirmed that its working for windows 8 64 bit as well, you can surely give it a try.
