there are lots of people who are fearing that camera lens are going to be scratched. Will portion of screen protector work in this particular scenario? Does it affect the camera of the device? I have already used Zagg InvisibleShield for the old iPod Nano and it would have the cutout for middle of wheel which would be same as lens cover. Let me know if you are having any useful comments to share.

I am suspecting that camera lens is made of Gorilla Glass and if it is then there is no point to use shield at all.
Why are you saying that is it no point to have shield? Well you should simply rub some fine sand and see whether how it is working. But I am wondering that if you place some kind of screen protector on lens. If you have placed any kind of coating on the lens can cause degradation of images which you are going to capture. Also it will degrade the video quality as well.
After going through the problem I think you will need to use Official pouch which is made of leather and having microfiber inside of it. I think it will help you to tackle this particular issue. I know it would be bit expensive for you. another solution is to get the screen protector which cannot make much effect on the results of the camera.
