EDGE on unlocked BlackBerry Bold 9930 is very painful
It seems to me that EDGE on my BB Bold 9930 is very painful. The same thing happened before in my older unlocked BlackBerry Curve 8300. However the edge wasn’t that much bad on unlocked HTC HD2. Now I assume that it is all due to the processing power. What speed should I get actually?

I think that it is somewhat similar to or maybe much better than HTC HD2. Otherwise it would depend on the connection and the distance to the cell tower. I also have a 9930 on AT&T which gets EDGE. It wasn’t bad at all. It was really acceptable.

You need a BlackBerry option to allow the "EDGE" to work properly. The option is basically the technical achievement on the part of your mobile provider that your BlackBerry, the BlackBerry services can use as push email etc and the Flat Internet ensures that the resulting data for your BlackBerry 24 hours online - covered the cost be. Without BB option, I think that it is too complicated to get the proper signal or speed over EDGE connection.

Make sure that you get the BIS to work correctly on your phone. If so, then log into the BIS account in any way possible. There you must have to check and ensure that PIN/IMEI is set up properly and then you can send whatever service to your device. I hope that it will help you to fix the problem. However you can also call the carrier which you are currently using. They will help you to verify the issue and get you a proper info for troubleshoot.

What kind of problem you are getting?
Are you getting all the Blackberry services?
Did you unlock the phone after buying as a locked phone?
What method you have used to unlock the phone?
I assume that there could be some kind of software related problem which is causing bottleneck to the EDGE. Did you check for the latest version OS update for the phone? Connect the phone to the Blackberry Desktop manager and see if it is popping up any update or not.
