Monitor / Video Card stops working after 3 years
English isn't my native language, so i'll try this cause i have been googling for over 5 hours, and still can't find anything even remotely related to my problem.
Okay, i'll give you the story first.
My pc setup i bought and build myself worked like a charm for 3 years without problems!
but yesterday evening something went wrong, and now i have no idea how to fix it.
I use a Palit GTS 250 1GB E-Green (VGA+DVI output) (Nvidia)
I have 2 CHIMEI CMV223D 22' running 1680x1050 native resolution
primary screen DVI (right in front of me), secondary screen VGA (little to my right)
extended desktop
The thing is: somehow after i used a fullscreen mode of media player classic, and i closed the fullscreen mode my primary screen resolution changed.
What i found in Nvidia was very strange to me.
Both my monitors used to be recognized by nvidia as well as windows screenconfig.
but now my primary screen is called: Digital screen
instead of: Chi Mei Optoelectronics corp. CMC 22 W
Secondary screen still is recognized as it should be.
Primary screen res options is now only 1024x768(native) or 800x600
This can't be right?
So the VGA is still working as it should be and the DVI is flipping on me.
I have absolutely no idea what went wrong and wat happened so this is what i did first
I updated the driver. nothing
I reinstalled driver. nothing (i know, i did a clean install)
switch cables, only switches problem.
opened case, cleaned what needed cleaning (use homemade filter, which work great btw). nothing
replugged graphcard. nothing
I'm stumped, and it's bugging me.
Can someone please give me some advice?
I thank you from my soul.

re: Monitor / Video Card stops working after 3 years
what i forgot to tell whas this:
i couldnt find the restore to last configuration.
so that is my search now.
update: lol, just got off the phone with my best friend concerning his newly born son, and he told me is sounded like a software problem.
he suggested to either restore last working config or put in the windows disk to repair windows, cause i had the problem after watching a movie full screen with a media player.
Re: Monitor / Video Card stops working after 3 years
I have tried 2 times with a system recovery of more then 2 days ago when everything worked fine.
nothing changed for the better. Screen still isn't recognized.
Re: Monitor / Video Card stops working after 3 years
It looks there is a issue with the gpu. Whenever you face such issue like sudden change in display resolution then it means the video driver is failed to keep your settings intact. I will recommend you to try to find the most latest driver you can for the graphic card. Just for testing purpose if possible try to connect the non working monitor only to your system. See that you are getting a display or not. If not then the screen is facing hardware issue.
Re: Monitor / Video Card stops working after 3 years
update: managed to input a manual 1650x1050 resolution in nvidia.
but still nothing on screen recognition.
