AMD A8-3870k APU unveiled
Long time ago the AMD unveiled the Lynx platform with Llano processors based on Socket FM1. In a first test of the A8-3850 APU was a good all-round suitability as a CPU can be found. Particularly impressive graphics performance. If you also for high-end games is not appropriate, it is often sufficient for casual gamers. In December, now is a whole new set of Llano Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) has been presented . Two of them have a special feature: they are labeled "K" in its name, which - stands for an unlocked multiplier - like Intel. Thus, the A6 and A8-3670K-3870K, the clock can be varied freely. Does anyone want to share their experience with this processor?
Re: AMD A8-3870k APU unveiled
The APU is a somewhat like a combination of CPU and GPU. That means it has a integrated graphics processor which can be enabled or disabled whenever you want. Now when undervolting the Llano is already great. Often run in Normal mode with 0.2V or less or much less. There is also likely to go up through a lot.
The question that remains is why AMD is delivering with such a high voltage for 32nm production.
Re: AMD A8-3870k APU unveiled
A8-3870K processor on the same chip includes an integrated graphics card. This is the strength of this processor. Specifically it is the Radeon HD 6550D which supports direct x 11, has 400 cores and runs at 600 MHz speed latter as with the processor is unlocked and can be increased. The processor supports UVD 3, which allows you to accelerate both the conversion and video playback.
Re: AMD A8-3870k APU unveiled
As far as I know that the new AMD A8-3870K is the successor to the 3850 A8 . The processors are almost identical, if not much in their characteristics but to see that the only difference is over 100 MHz operating frequency. It is very similar to what it did with Intel processors i7 2600K and 2700K . However, this processor lies somewhat different in its interior. The A8 3870K comes with unlocked clock multiplier, this makes it ideal for a micro overclocking at low prices. It is rare to find such features into processors lower-middle range.
Re: AMD A8-3870k APU unveiled
With the A8-3870K, AMD has a truly versatile all-rounder in the program. It is so easy to overclock. In addition, the price is very reasonable. This gives not only a CPU, but also still the same integrated graphics processor that is sufficiently powerful enough to play game at 1280 x 1024 pixels resolution.
Re: AMD A8-3870k APU unveiled
I hope that you will be expecting some kind of miracle with processor performance. It is a usual expectation for gamers and overclockers. In the benchmarks that require a lot of computing power of the CPU cores but the A8 still lags behind that. Now still remember that the CPU already has an integrated graphics unit, which is significantly more powerful than Intel's current HD 2000/3000 solution, and then you can quickly realize that this is a processor with good price / performance ratio concerns. There might be several benchmark test results regarding this processor which will help you to get the accurate result by comparing with other processors scores.
Re: AMD A8-3870k APU unveiled
In our test, we will feel the new flagship of the APU. Of course we want to know exactly the limit of overclocking. But from a larger perspective, we see again in detail what a system should be fitted to a fully overclocked APU - that is, the CPU and GPU sub-units - not slowing down. here the new A8-3870K ends up in comparison to the previous top model 3850 and A8 performance potential which can be extracted by further overclocking. Well, we don’t know about that yet but I hope that we will soon find out and reveal ht result.
Re: AMD A8-3870k APU unveiled
The default frequency leads to +100 MHz compared to the APU 3850 model. However, in overclocking while having the multiplier unlocked as the cpu black edition, fails to achieve different frequencies of the other CPU. In fact, the tests confirm this. As if the production process is not improved or better, have the same production step. Regarding the performance of course are well balanced, integrated graphics is currently the best ever.
