Dude I just wanted tell you something about Intel centrion advance. As long as you order the card listed in your service manual with the HP part number which has been written over it .it should work but if it is an intel 6230 without HP part number then I would say it will not work.

I would say yes or no. you there is only one Intel centrion card, but unfortunately they have different firmware code for the different Pc manufacture. Let me remind you that FCC (Specific Absorption Rate) require for the measurements and interference measurements along with validation of the wireless card. So here you can see that HP tests the limited number of the wireless card in notebook model. if you see the any part number on the card that means it has some specific firmware code that will help for the analysis of BIOS. Hp ensures that particular card is valid and it can be install.

Hey guys I had the same problem but when I got this type problem then immediately I contacted to HP site. Then after two day I got the card it is really Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 card. if you order the part number 636672-001 then definitely you will get the Intel dual band 6230 card. So I would suggest you if you want this card just contact this part number 636672-001. I am sure it will work for your HP dv7.
