re: BackTrack 5 - USB wireless adapter not recognized
You will have to find the drivers for your usb wifi adapter to make it run on Backtrack. Sometime the software packages are updated automatically in Backtrack which also download drivers for uninstall hardware in your system. There are not special drivers for backtrack. You just need to find a common Linux driver for your wifi usb card. If you can provide the technical specification of your card, you might get more assistance on it here.

Re: BackTrack 5 - USB wireless adapter not recognized
I think that there are many variants of this type of adapter, first off check the label on the back and does it say speedbooster on the front? Your adapter should be recognised as rausb0 although you will need the advanced drivers to use the aircrack suite.
Re: BackTrack 5 - USB wireless adapter not recognized
Any more suggestions for me? I know on BackTrack 4 you could go to services and start / stop network now I can not find that in BackTrack 5.
