Skype automatically closes when clicked on contacts

My skype application is closing automatically whenever I click on contacts either to make a call or to text a message. It started happening suddenly from last 4 days. It closes the app without giving a prior message or warning. But after the app is closed it says “skype lost” and tells me to click on OK.
I seriously don’t have any idea why this is happening. One more thing is that if I don’t even touch the contact list, everything runs smoothly. Please first let me know why this is happening. Whats making the application to close automatically when I click on contacts?

Must be your skype application got corrupted. The symptoms which you have mentioned clearly say that this is the case of application getting corrupted. Whenever there is any application, folder or file in which you encounter sudden closing or crashing or getting closed by itself without any reason, then you must understand that the application is corrupted or infected with virus. For this either you install an antivirus or else reinstall the application and use it.

Same problem, everything was fine till yesterday but suddenly don’t know why from the next day whenever I open the application it shows some unusual behavior like if I click on the contact list it gets automatically closed. In short the app gets automatically shut down, due to this reason I am forced not to touch the contact list if I want the skype opened. Seems like I can’t make a call through this application ever, and if it’s so then I don’t think this application is of any use for me as I have it just for making online calls.

This problem is too huge but seems like it has not yet affected many users. I thought that it’s only the mobile phones which are the problem with the skype application. And so I felt safe and installed this app in my Toshiba netbook, but I was mistaken. The app got crashed in my system too. I tried the all the possible solution and also tried the above provided suggestion. I uninstalled the application 3 to 4 times and also reinstalled it each time but still faced the same problem; I also scanned the whole system and then tried to open the app again but nothing changed.

No use of uninstalling and reinstalling the system, and also if you are planning to upgrade or downgrade the app then better you drop the idea because I have the best solution with me which will 100% work for any system or device facing this problem.
When I faced this problem I was told by my friend to download the latest beta version of skype 5.7. I followed his idea and now trust me not yet faced even a single problem. The application crashing has been stopped completed.

Even I was recommended by skype support team to install the latest beta version of skype. But now the problem is that I am completely unable to download this beta version. Don’t know why exactly this is happening. But when I try to download the current version or the older version, they are downloaded and installed easily without creating any problem but the issue is only with the beta version downloading. Do I need to pay anything for this beta version? If not then can you people let me know few known websites from where I can download the beta version for free?

I was told that the beta version has ZERO crashes till now and I was also suggested to download this version replacing the current version which they felt was corrupted.
But in my case whenever I go on to download the beta version, it says that I already have this version downloaded and installed in my device. As far as I know I have never downloaded the beta version before, in fact I heard about it recently. I searched everywhere but didn’t find it installed in my handset. I think I need to hard reset my phone and then try installing the beta version. I will try it and let you people know what the result is.

I have got the reason and also the best solution to get rid of this sudden crashing of the skype application. It is because of the new video ad present in skype. So people who are facing the crashing problem independent of the contact list can try to click on any contact as soon as they sign in to prevent that ad from opening. You can then switch between the contacts but don’t even dare to close the contact list because it will again let the video ad to load and then as usual skype will crash automatically.
