Powerpoint Office 2011 works very slow on LAN

PowerPoint Offce 2011 is working very slow on SMB. There are some files which are shared over the network and they are access by many pc. But when the file is modified and saved, it take a long time to finish the process. Second the accessing speed is also support slow. The server is running on Mac OS X. What can be reason behind this. Sometime it took more than 20mins to get an files saving or viewing over network. There is projected attached to an system which is on the lan. Now if I want to run the presentation, I takes a longer to access the file and play over the screen. The slides are also super slow. Any solution on the same really appreciated.

I am not sure about your version but an older version has the same issue. The fix for that was recommended that when you are playing a presentation play it from an network share drive. It is better to create an separate drive for network share. And then copying the powerpoint file files in that. A Powerpoint file is an like an container which holds images, sounds, videos ,etc. If the size of the file is higher, it might consume time open up the same and run. Also its recommended to copy files individually to each share drive and then run from the local drive. That will make your work more and more faster. Sometime the lan bandwidth is consumed by any applications which can be data backup, etc. does not allow powerpoint files to load faster. You an create an kind of network drive in every system and ask to copy the file to local disk and then run from there.

That issue is not related to Office 2011, it can be because of your lan. Check the lan latency and response time. If the Powerpoint file is heavier then it will surely take time to run.
