Hi, I am using T-mobile G-Slate from last couple of months but the thing is like I want to update the firmware which is actually installed in the mobile by default. so is the android 3.1 OTA Update available for the device? because actually I want to update it through my machine but don’t know how can I do this? and because of that I am not sure whether do I make a firmware update or not ?
Any suggestion would be appreciated.
actually you are right as it doesn’t make any sense to update the firmware through OTA because as far as I know there isn’t any such improvement you’ll get after updating the firmware this way because it will only change some of the settings and some new feature would be included in the mobile. but at the same end If you are updating your mobile through the PC, the whole software would be updated and in that you’ll get many more newer functions.
For an example it is same as you update windows XP through the update and get some newer settings to the existing windows. But if you clean install the same operating system you’ll get many more benefits.
If you want to check whether the update is available or not, you should try to enter in the settings and the from there only you’ll see the option for firmware update, and since you select the option, the device will list you the current version and the available version. And if suppose the newer version to which you have to update your device is available then you can simply carry one the steps mentioned in order to update the firmware. but according to me as well you should make update through the PC only.
A software update is available for the T-Mobile G-Slate tablet.
The update will be brought to you in a staggered manner to all G-Slate consumers. All the user will become aware of appear on your tablet while the update is accessible for you to install.
T-Mobile representatives cannot accelerate the liberation of the update or drive the update to tablets by demand thus we must have to wait for sure.
What are the new feature they have included in the newer version, is it worthy to update the firmware or the older one better?
Because I don’t have any problem with the current but just for sake of experiencing I want to update the firmware.
I have updated this firmware and have noticed this things in the tablet.
• Google Videos - A new Videos application has been appended to the previous version that permits you to purchase and rent out movies and episodes.
• fresh applications list prolonged - The recent applications s list has been prolonged to show all applications newly used.
• Home screen modernize widgets - Widgets built-in to Android 3.0 such as Calendar, Email, Gmail, etc. can now be resized upright or parallel on any one of the five home screens.
• USB accessory support - consumers can at the present attach other devices such as keyboard, pointing device, or gamepad to the G-Slate tablet for use with typing, gaming, etc.
