How to enable 1600x900 screen resolution by using bios in Acer 4820TG
I’m having the Acer Aspire TimelineX 4820TG which I had bought few months back in which I was facing the problem where I was not able set the screen resolution to the 1600x900. I’m having windows 7 and ubuntu Linux operating system. Well I was search for some way out to set the resolution by making use of bios. Can anyone guide me to how to do this? Any how I want to set my screen resolution to 1600x900. Thanks in advanced.

I don’t know why you are not able to set the screen resolution to the 1600x900 as most people have the problem with the 1900x600. Just check what’s wrong with your screen. Well according to my knowledge Acer Aspire 4820TG and even the 5820 is having the InsydeH2O or might be Insyde. So just look for the Insyde in the bios modders from that you may try to do so or you can even try RBE - Radeon BIOS editor which help you to solve your problem.

Well I don’t know much about this but if it is an Insyde BIOS then you need to decompile or even disassemble and then enable the option what you needed and then flash it. After that look for the video bios modding tools and even the mod both the Intel and ati graphics bios. Well I’m sure with the help of ati bios tool you will be able to change the resolution and even by making use of Intel bios mod tool and if you want you can even swap the screen.

Even I was having the same problem regarding the maximum screen resolution and I had given it for the repair to the service center. I had tried to disassemble my laptop but I was not able to do so. I had tried different resolution and there I had noticed that horizontal pixel is black well I had tried the resolution at 1600x900 in windows 7 and I am getting the wired screen and even the error message of bad screen. Well I recommend you must contact to the technical support if your problem still persist.

I think Acer 4820TG normally use the single LVDS interface so that’s why you are not able to set the resolution which is above the 1400x900 and fro this you can’t get any help from any kind of mod and I’m sure 1600x900 can be used with the double LVDS as there is the problem with the single LVDS port implementation. I you want you can even check the clock signal for the 2 channel and if any one if you are able to set the resolution at 1600x900 then I’m sure you will get an error message.
