HP LaserJet 2200 printer not working on windows 7 64 bit
I am using a Dell computer and have installed Windows 7 64bit edition of operating system. Everthing on the system works fine. Recently I have purchased a new HP LaserJet 2200 printer and after installing it in my system when I am trying to print a page from the printer then it says "cannot find drivers". I have installed the driver but still it is giving me same error message? Can anyone please help me out? Thanks.
Re: HP LaserJet 2200 printer not working on windows 7 64 bit
Try to follow a trick that I am going to provide you. Just think that the printer is connected to Windows 7 computer and then load it as a local printer connected to LPT1 with no auto-detect or test page. After it is done loading then try to go to the Properties of the printer by right clicking on the icon and scrolling down to Properties and left click. After that go to ports and change the port to the shared port on the XP computer, like for example \\xpcomputer\lj2200. XPcomputer is the name of the computer that has the printer attached and lj2200 is the shared name given to the printer on that pc.
Re: HP LaserJet 2200 printer not working on windows 7 64 bit
I have just read somewhere that sometimes Windows 7 wont allow a shared port but will only allow an IP address. If that is the issue then it might not work but there could be another reason as well. There is a command in Windows and I think it will be in Windows 7 as well which is called net use. If you can use it then keep the port as lpt1 for the HP LaserJet 2200 printer and then go to a command prompt and type the command net use lpt1: \\xpcomputer\lj2200 /persistent:yes and press Enter.
