I am currently using Nokia N8. Well I am unable to use the speaker of the Nokia N8 of mine. I am getting earpiece/headphone on the screen all the time though I have not connected to the either Minijack or HDMI port. When I plug the headset it seems to be working fine. I am unable to figure out why such problem is occurring on the phone of mine. let me know if you are having any suggestion to solve the problem of mine.
I think I was having the almost same problem like you. Well I have left the Nokia N8 of mine in the Bluetooth mode of the car speaker phone which was the root cause of the problem. It was displaying the headset icon when I have connected with the speaker phone. I have simply solved the problem of mine by disconnecting with the Bluetooth and the speakers started to work again. You can use the thing which I have done to fix the problem of mine.
Well looking at the situation which you have provided over here I am suggesting the following thing which you can use to solve the problem of yours. I recommend that you should wetting the jack plug by using the spot alcohol and insert the jack fully and simply rotate the 360 degree in the same. This particular thing will remove the dust which has been gathered on the jack of the headphone. Let me know whether it worked for you.
In this particular situation I recommending that you should do soft reset on the Nokia N8 of yours. Well I let you know that no data would be erased after doing the soft reset so you should not worry about the data which you have stored on the phone of yours. well you need to press *#7380# from the keypad of yours. this particular thing would will clear the pending the error from the mobile phone and simply bring the same to the initial state.
If the soft reset the did not help you to fix the problem of yours then you should go for the Hard reset for the Nokia N8. Well the hard reset will delete all the information which is stored on the phone memory so you need to have back up all the information from the phone before you perform hard reset. You need to press #7370# and press Yes for confirmation. I am hoping that the hard reset would help you to solve the problem of yours.
I want to know whether the soft reset and hard reset help you to fix the problem of yours. if any of the above mentioned solution did not help you to solve the problem then you should go for the Nokia Care Center to get solution for the problem. It would be great if you are having service warranty then you will solve the issue without paying for the same. Well I let you know that the service warranty would void if your phone is gone through physical damage.
