No IDE drive and Disk Errors
Hello, I have been having problem recently through my computer. I got a hard drive of more capacity installed as of a new and used computer shop. From then, my PC is showing the occasionally shut down automatically while running absolutely well. When I begin it back up, it does a ensure for dissimilar components. It gets wedged on detecting IDE drives for around 7 to 8 seconds and after that it shows me the message that says that I don’t have IDE cable attached, and then goes to a new screen which says "Disk Error". I do not contain any CD's or floppies in my computer, so I know it's not trying to boot off those. Does anybody know what that error messages mean? If you have anything helpful for me then please let me know about that.
Re: No IDE drive and Disk Errors
I am not very sure about this but it is possible that it is the problem with the battery that you care having on your motherboard and it is the time to change that with the new one. Other than this, you can also check the BIOS in your computer. It can also be one of the possible reasons for this issue. Set the BIOS to its default settings and see if that is able to help you in any manner. Please reply if that helps you or not?
Re: No IDE drive and Disk Errors
You should forget the another possibility, how to set the jumpers on the hard disk and CD / DVD. If I would be at your place then I would check just to make sure they are set right positions. Remember that your hard disk is set to master and slave rom. It could also be that the cables are bad, they need new night. I know this cannot be of much help; these are just things to look like a problem. I hope that this will help you in any manner.
Re: No IDE drive and Disk Errors
I'm sure you need to open your cabinet and you will see the hard disk. Do yourself a favor and get a flash light. In the back of the hard drive you will see what is called bridges in the top of the hard drive; you see a label that will tell you what does the pin. Look where it says teacher and then look back up the bridges and make sure it is located in the right place. Do the same with the Rom. I would like to tell you that you may have to take out them in to observe them. Be cautious and attempt not to finger the mother board because the static electricity might reason damage.
