When will we have ipv6 address in airtel broadband
I am using airtel broadband connection. As per the world internet estimates internet will run short of IP addresses. As the number of user are increasing rapidly so the ip addresses availble with ipv4 amy get over. So I just wanted to know by what time we can have ipv6 in airtel broadband services. I also wanted to know what changes the internet world have to to make to move Ipv6?
Re: When will we have ipv6 address in airtel broadband
To move from ipv4 to ipv6 is not very simple task, a lots of work needs to be done. Implementation of ipv6 will take some considerable amount of time. Most of the modem /router used in ipv4 are to be changed are modified such that they can support ipv6 protocol as well. New modems which are available in market they come with ipv6 already. Once all the system is updated we can move to ipv6.
Re: When will we have ipv6 address in airtel broadband
Internet world needs to take quick decision of moving to ipv6 protocol from ipv4. The IPv4 and IPv6 protocols refer to the way in which web addresses are created and assigned. Ipv4 uses 32 –bit addresses and ipv6 uses 128-bit addresses. Ipv6 protocol creates billions of possible new web addresses. Once all the devices which are there in internet set up are compatible we can upgrade to ipv6.
Re: When will we have ipv6 address in airtel broadband
IPV6 has very long address space which can create almost trillions of addresses. Ipv6 is vastly enhanced capacity for unique addresses. Ipv6 uses 128-bit address string where as ipv4 uses 32-bit address string .Since ipv6 protocol has set of rules and protocols which needs to be followed. Once all the set up of internet becomes compatible with these protocols we can move to ipv6.
Re: When will we have ipv6 address in airtel broadband
In coming time ipv4 addresses will get exhausted and ipv6 is ultimate solution to the problem. Modern operating system like windows 7 support ipv6.they run in dual stack mode with ipv4. To shift from ipv4 to ipv6 protocol , it requires internet service provider to overhaul whole network and to this all they need considerable amount of time.
Re: When will we have ipv6 address in airtel broadband
We know that as the number of internet user is increasing rapidly, web addresses are running short. To accomplish this shortage it is need to shift from ipv4 to ipv6 protocol. Ipv6 uses 128-bit address string which gives possibilities of most numbers of web addresses. Once all the internet set is compatible with all protocols of ipv6, then it can sweep to ipv6.
