Information about SAN infrastructure
Let me thanks to all members for helping and providing proper solutions last time. :notworthy Since you members provide solutions in simple language, I have decided to ask my queries over here in future. Now I am here to gain some notes about SAN infrastructure. Storage Area Networks (SAN) centralize data storage and provide high availability and fast access. I am also aware about monolithic SAN architectures and to help clients choose the right SAN designs. But since, I want to study more about it in depth, I thought to post here. Please provide detailed information about SAN architectures and post here sooner.
Re: Information about SAN infrastructure
Storage Area Networks impose on all of its benefits to the business applications, a relatively rigid infrastructure. This causes problems because modern business applications require the capabilities to their underlying storage infrastructure, great scalability, flexibility and distributed. This means that the current current SAN infrastructures to enable business requirements provided by the contingent settlement only. Click to create new strategies such as modular SAN. In today's IT environments, it becomes a ground of separation between applications and infrastructure difficult to come up with new and flexible technologies such as storage virtualization and information lifecycle management to implement ILM. This separation is cemented by monolithic SAN products that try to offer additional services over a single platform. The construction of fast-reacting, more intelligent and flexible storage networks will therefore require new strategies for the new SAN design and architecture for SAN interconnect products.
Re: Information about SAN infrastructure
Customers receive only a modular approach, the possibility of the integrity of their existing SAN installations and get the same well-developed recording services - meet the varying needs of business applications better - add to their infrastructure without disrupting ongoing operations. Managing information is an essential component of modern business activities. use today bring in masses of data for both large and small businesses colossal challenges. To remain competitive, companies must analyze millions of records, since they can only find out in this way factors such as customer needs, buying trends, cyclical market requirements and dependencies. This means that IT managers not only have the task of moving large amounts of data, but they also have to examine it on towards its maximum value. In addition, the recently set by the authorities made demands on the data storage a new standard for data storage, security and availability. It is enough for a company to manage therefore not only the current transaction. The storage of historical information is just as much on the role of the IT department.
Re: Information about SAN infrastructure
The introduction of new technologies such as ILM and content management of structured and unstructured data also forces the person responsible to their applications better match you with the infrastructure than ever before. Commitments relating to the business transactions data that is dynamic and often change over time its value. Unfortunately, the infrastructure for data storage and transport today in most environments but not in a position to react flexibly to the changing business value of data.
Re: Information about SAN infrastructure
SANs offer tends to be a single class of service that applies to the delivery of data and their availability. Large companies are monolithic storage arrays, large and high-availability directors and expensive server platforms with failover and redundant products connect to a SAN. In such environments, all data is the best possible service, no matter how high their business value. To reduce costs and adapt to business realities with changing values, the SANs in the future provide enough flexibility to support multiple classes of service, taking into account the cost of storage and the requirements of availability and security. Fibre Channel SAN operate at layer two of the OSI model, called the Data Link Layer. There, these storage networks basic storage services such as fabric-Building, Fabric Login, State Change Notification and high-performance frame-switching. Thanks to realize their settlement on the layer two Fibre Channel SANs have a very high throughput and thus provide the basis for storage services at higher levels.
Re: Information about SAN infrastructure
In recent years, the storage industry has introduced several new technologies designed to improve data storage and transmission continues. "Storage over IP" is used for example cost-effective data replication and enables simultaneous use of remote applications over very large distances the. iSCSI realized in contrast to an affordable connection of second-tier servers to existing enterprise SANs and allows the construction of low-cost IP SANs for small businesses and departments. Fibre Channel over Ethernet connects both worlds. New SAN security solutions help customers beyond encrypting your critical data storage. SAN routing ensures that the memory segment networks can thus preventing the construction of large network infrastructures that respond to vulnerable fabric reconfigurations and broadcast storms. Apart from this various technologies to simplify storage virtualization storage administration by the grouping of memory components in heterogeneous environments and provide data Snapshots and replication functions. Also bring new products to the content and lifecycle management requirements of information handling and the SAN infrastructure in line. Thus, they help save money and improve the data delivery. All these features make SANs for the demands of modern environments.
Re: Information about SAN infrastructure
The above mentioned advanced storage services (by other members) operate between the SAN transport layer and the business applications that run on the higher levels of the OSI layer model. By inserting a wide range of storage services between these layers can be greater flexibility, faster response times and achieve a more efficient and cost-effective management of storage data. That is, the bottom run the above mentioned transport services, the level two, and SAN routing. Additionally provide advanced storage services such as storage pooling, snapshot, replication and ILM for the best performance, then fall back to the turn located at the highest level applications (such as Oracle or Exchange).
