Is it possible to use ethernet and Airport simultaneously
Hello, I have a broadband connection to network through ethernet. My cousin who resides one floor above me has a wi-fi router with his own link. So when he Is not making use of his connection I can. But I am not aware whether I can my ethernet together and then have a air port connection . My download speed I have 4MB download speed on the other hand my cousin has 6MB , now is it possible that I will be able to download file at10mbps can I download files, browse, etc with 10MB download speed? Can safari uses 4MB that will deploy (my connection and iTunes will be used by my cousins? If yes, please tell me too , I am waiting for your response how. Thank you, in advance.
Re: Is it possible to use ethernet and Airport simultaneously
No. You can't unite two diverse internet connections for a higher speed. Only single connection at one time is permitted to be used (it's the top connected one in system preferences->network). The Mac will make use of whatever connection was generated first before a transfer began. so you can connect the ethernet start the backup, then switch airport back on, secondly you must only require the ethernet linked for the initial backup all the others after are a lot smaller and for that reason transfer a lot faster with just Airport.

Are you totally positive regarding this?I don't mean to query ask in a detailed manner , I have no idea myself.I m actually stuck in a in a comparable circumstances (available Wi-Fi but already have a broadband connection), and was hopeful that I might somehow use both.I did some searching onGoogle and it looks as if you can do somewhat like that with some additional hardware. It even seemed as if some software could have done the trick, but I stopped looking because the info only interrelated to PC users.
Re: Is it possible to use ethernet and Airport simultaneously
I was thinking the same thing, Or merely If using ethernet connection with at wifi connection simultaneously would be achievable. My sytem is a Macbook Pro 2.4 dual core, and make use of a widgit called iStat pro, the figures display ethernet (258kb/s) and wireless (100kb/s) both with incoming data signals. To verify the dual usage, I swithched off the wireless while using azureus (downloading software) and the download bandwidth dropped by the similar amount that iStat pro showed being used by wifi (about 100k). Also both ethernet and AirPort are connected in the network preferences. I am also doing all of this on one wireless router that i am linked to an ethernet and wifi. So i was thinking if i had a wired connection, and a different autonomous wireless connection, could they be united? It seems it may be achievable?
