Where is the Server Configuration Wizard (Windows SBS 2003)
Yesterday I installed a Windows SBS 2003, I now want to configure that. I am professional support fields and until now was rather responsible for the clients rather than for the servers. I have some instructions that are also well described, but unfortunately I fail the following:
- "Open the Server Configuration Wizard", but this is definitely not to be found.
- Can I hire someone call the corresponding *. exe, because in the menus of the missing far and wide. Or this wizard has not even installed?
- In another post, the question of that after the installation on the desktop is an icon "Create Server" or similarly named, but my desktop is bare, no icon on it.
- I would be very happy if someone can tell me where the assistant is or how I get this (or re-installation sort of thing)
Re: Where is the Server Configuration Wizard (Windows SBS 2003)
Put the SBS 2003 (R2) CD 1 into the drive and start from there setup. Then follow the wizard. When you install the SBS only a Windos 2003 Installed. Then a restart of the computer. After that, the fact SBS is set up using a wizard. These include the AD, DNS, WINS, routers (two network cards), Exchange, and what else you want to have it all. This is on the desktop of the administrator said the icon to continue the installation. Normally start this wizard "Automatic" after the first reboot. This is, however, created anew with each subsequent installation. The installation of SQL as well as the ISA (for the Premium version) can then manually from the last CD to start.
Re: Where is the Server Configuration Wizard (Windows SBS 2003)
In my case, after the temporary loading / saving of files, the setup starts and by country, institution / organization, product key and time (time zone) in demand. Then the basic installation in about 30 minutes of SBS 2003 is through. Then Windows starts after the admin application (first application) and again performs a setup. The following steps are now being carried out:
- Windows configuration,
- Installation of Server Applications
- Task List
When you click next, you have to enter the site and the DNS name of the new domain. Thereafter, the configuration of the network adapter. It starts setup again and it takes nearly 30 minutes Sunday and then? Still no assistant here.
Re: Where is the Server Configuration Wizard (Windows SBS 2003)
once I have seen this in my case after the Server Management Console: The icon is usually found in Start at the top left, also in Control Panel -> Administrative Tools. In the properties is "C: \ Program Files \ Microsoft Windows Small Business Server \ Administration \ LaunchConsole.exe" called. Did you know? In the server administration console is the first point (tasks) is probably what you're looking for, and the check mark for finished you have to set the way by hand.
Re: Where is the Server Configuration Wizard (Windows SBS 2003)
The server management console is there, but not the server configuration wizard. Without this I can not specify a file server, DNS server, etc. provide because I need to re-install it even after the default installation of SBS 2003. For the SBS will say installed in order to avoid unnecessary security risks. What you will have extra features, like DNS, mail, or Terminal Server if I only need a file server? I can put any file server when I re-install the feature cannot. And for this "simple" Wizard is for. I have 2 SBS Microsoft purchased in 2003 books, one before and one just over a year recently. I read this, but not both go without the server configuration wizard more. You know what I mean?
Re: Where is the Server Configuration Wizard (Windows SBS 2003)
Can it be that you mean the wizard, which is used in a server 2003? When the SBS goes a little something different. For example, you may not operate without the SBS AD, so the SBS goes down then after 30 days, relentlessly. That makes it the more cheerfully. Or did I again do not understand something?
