Acer Aspire 9802 DVD Drive does not recognise some DVD
have the following problem my DVD drive is not detected!
My system:
Bios will recognize the drive!
Acer Aspire 9802WKMi
Matshita DVD Double Layer burner
Windows XP Profession SP2 and all updates
I've also googled and found that I, the entries under
regedit - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control
l \ Class \ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
In this key to delete the folder key Upper Filters and Lower filters. for me only the upper filter was inside the other does not, I've also rebooted and still nothing. Then I reinstalled my system and then he ran super and all programs installed perfectly with Norton Ghost so I made a recovery DVD and then this morning the drive was gone. Again deleted the regedit entry - nothing made up.
Then I put back to Norton and see there the drive is also not there. Funny because I've checked in the Create whether to do this and went, too! Can you help me?
Re: Acer Aspire 9802 DVD Drive does not recognise some DVD
I think that the dvd which you are trying to play has gone bad and hence i think you should try to check this DVD on to some other laptop or desktop and check whether it is played on that machine or not since after a few months the dvd drives becomes unreadable after sometimes. But if you find that the DVD drive is working on other machine then there is a problem with your laptop.
Re: Acer Aspire 9802 DVD Drive does not recognise some DVD
I have a HP tx-1000, and a few days over here, my laptop was fine, and today I wanted to play just one cd, and I found the surprise was not the Computer icon, because I have Vista ... Restart the computer, check in Device Manager, and does not appear, at first I thought it was a virus, but no ... I went to Bios and enabled on boot from cd-rom, to boot now, as in order of priority list, see my hard drive, partitions, etc. But at no time appears, my drive cd-dvd burner. I feel it is a problem inside, but it would be physical, I need your opinion! Hopefully I can help! I thank you!
Re: Acer Aspire 9802 DVD Drive does not recognise some DVD
This is because Windows Vista creates a filter related to the buffer of the CD or DVD, which cause the unit will not be displayed.
- Click the Start button
- Start Search type "regedit" without quotes
- the outcome of the search right click and select open as administrator
- if you asked the password enter it and gives further
- now every one of the folders on your record has left an arrow that indicates
- whether this expanded or not. press the arrow keys to keep expanding the tree and locate the following path:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Class \ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
