How does GTX 580 crashes on the system?
Hello friends, I have recently got GeForce GTX 580 which is giving me lots of problem, I really don’t know what to do? I think I made a big mistake buying this card. When I started playing a high resolution graphics game, the card got crashed after 5 mins. I was in completely shocked, how could this happen? I am currently using 700w PSU but it only has 2 six power cables which made me to use it. I have got a feeling that it may be because of this, but I am not completely sure. If anybody knowing any information related to this query than please let me know.

Yes, my friend your feeling is absolutely right. If you are switching an 8 pin adapter over a 6 pin adapter these problem is definitely going to occur. You should be aware that when you are using GTX 580, it delivers less power in a 6 pin as compared to an 8 pin adapter. GTX 480 is similar to GTX580 where in it had problem of energy power consumption. You should know that Fermi eats more power in a 6 pin adapter as compare to an 8 pin adapter. This may be the reason for your card getting crashed

I also had a similar kind of problem. Firstly, my screen used to get bright when I used to start high resolution graphics games. This could be fixed only if I restart the system and then again it used to have same problem. I was tired of restarting my system again and then finally it got crashed. When a friend of mine suggested me to use an 8 pin adapter instead of using a 6pin adapter. This usually happens when you use a 6 pin adapter instead of using an 8 pin adapter.
Re: How does GTX 580 crashes on the system?
It is very true that Fermi eats all your energy if you are using a 6 pin adapter instead of 8 pin adapter. This may result in crashing of system but crashing of system also occurs if you are playing a game in a high graphics mode. Many times as it crashes due to playing in high graphics mode. You should play according to it requirement. One should be aware when it should play the high resolution game and especially in which mode. I think this may be also a reason of it getting crashed. You should be careful when you are a 6 pin adapter and a playing it in high graphics mode.
Re: How does GTX 580 crashes on the system?
My suggestion is that you should simply use an 8 pin adapter instead of using a 6 pin adapter which results in crashing of GTX 580. If you want your GTX 580 won’t be crashed then you should use an 8 pin adapter instead of 6 pin adapters. You might be knowing that Fermi eats all the power so there is no consumption so you should make sure that you are using an 8 pin adapter instead of a 6 pin adapter which ensures you that your GTX 580 doesn’t get crashed.
