Re: Lenovo T510 Ram Upgrade
If you are looking for the speed then i would better suggest you to go with the 4 GB ram and if you want the storage then go with the 2 GB ram 1066mhz. As such the 4Gb RAM will not affect the working of your system. Now i assume that you must be having a transition board with the transition board you will have the advantage, now if you can possibly get a dual kit of 2GB 1066MHZ and install in the slots of the transition board provided for the ram in this way you will get the speed as well as the memory that will suite your needs. Just try with this solution and tell me if it works.
Re: Lenovo T510 Ram Upgrade
I would suggest you to stick with the 2GB DDR ram, because for a 32 bit operating system the 2 GB ram suits the best, if you try to upgrade the system with the 4GB then it will not recognize the 4gb totally and the memory available will be around 3.5GB to claim the advantage of 4gb ram you must upgrade your operating system to 64 bits, the other problem with the 4gb RAM is that in your 32 bits operating system the 4 GB RAM reserves the address space will be reserved for pci bus, video adapter memory and many more devices, it needs half of the memory of the 4GB to address all these resources, separating the memory that it uses for the operating system, so in order to address a video adapter which has 512MB RAM then it will not be able to address it with the 2gb ram you will be able to address it much faster so i would like you to stick with the 2gb DDR RAM.
Re: Lenovo T510 Ram Upgrade
If you are thinking to upgrade your ram in order to play games then i would suggest you to go with the 4 GB ram because it will offer you much better speed then the 2 GB has to offer. Agreed, that the price may be an issue but if you are thinking of upgrading then do upgrade it with the much bigger memory.
