Very Slow Startup for Parallels
Hi all,
I have some problem with the Start up for Parallels. My problem is that when I start the parallels then the entire system becomes very slow and it work like crawling. It keeps this state until it loose something. Start up for the parallels is fine but it makes the other computer hanged. I am using the original version of parallels. Do you have any idea about this issue and if you know anything about this then please share that with us. I am not able to guess any reason behind this. I will appreciate any helpful suggestion from anybody. Thank you very much in advance.
Re: Very Slow Startup for Parallels
How much free memory space is there on your startup disk? I am asking this because if you have less amount of free space on start up disk then also you may get such problems like slow performance and all. To check the space on startup disk, you have to right click on the MacintoshHD icon and from the popup option you have to select the Get info. This will open the Info Window and from there you will be able to know the maximum capacity and available memory space. If you want to avoid any of such issues then you have to make sure that you have about 10% to 15% of the disk memory free.
Re: Very Slow Startup for Parallels
This can be because of the antivirus software that you are using. This is the distinctive behavior of the computers with some antivirus. Disable the antivirus temporary that you are using and check that again for the issue. This can also be because of the RAM. How much RAM you are using? To run the Parallels, you should have at least 2GB of RAM or more than that then only you will be able to run it. Check for these two thing that I /told on your system and if it is because of any of those then you can proceed to the solution accordingly. RAM is the most important thing that you should check first in such cases like slow performance.
Re: Very Slow Startup for Parallels
According to me you should check that if there is any alias file that is pointed to network shares which is not available on your desktop. If you have any such file then it may be the reason behind this issue. All you have to do is, simply remove that file from there and restart the system and I hope this time you will not face such problem. I can say this because it was the reason when I was getting the similar problem. I removed that file and that is all. From then I never faced such problem.
Re: Very Slow Startup for Parallels
There may be problem with the version of the parallels that you are using. Just search for the latest update for this and upgrade the existing parallel with the latest that is available on internet. In my case I have upgraded from parallel 4 to parallel 5 and I never faced such problems. You should also do that and I hope that this will resolve the issue for you.
Re: Very Slow Startup for Parallels
You can try the following to get it solved. You have to disable the main Window animation. If you want to do this then you have to go to Parallels Desktop menu and from there you have to select the Preferences. This will open a new window for the preferences with multiple tabs. Select the Appearance tab and select the animate group. You have to uncheck the option for the "Virtual Machine Window". Once you are done with that the quite Parallels Desktop and start that once again. This may solve the problem for you.
Re: Very Slow Startup for Parallels
You can try the above post and see whether it helps you or not? If that solves the issue then it is great and if it does not solve it then you can try to disable Time Machine on host temporarily. To do that first you have to quite the Parallels Desktop and after that you should disable the Time Machine. Once you have disabled the Time Machine then again start the Parallels Desktop. See whether it improves the startup time. You should make sure that you have enabled the Time Machine again after doing this. I wish that it will help you.
