I want some changes in my windows phone 7. The context menus which are in windows 7 and vista looks good. So I want to display those using the SDK. I don’t know how to do this. The bar of application does not meet my requirements. I need a simplest way to do this. I also heard that it works quite well on tap and hold event.
I have gone through your problem and I noticed that application bar menus do not have much flexibility. If the application bar doesn’t suits your requirement I urge you to try on popup list box. With some of handful code you can accomplish the context menu task on it. But you will need to apply same method to a simple button that is at the bottom of your screen. You will get the all the customization flexibility with listbox.
The concept of a context menu is that when user make the tap and hold event the screen popup a menu with some of the options. This feature used mostly for application bar or list to pin point the several option like Start menu, uninstall and so on. This can be implemented as a Context Menu Service. In case you want to implement the context menu you have to work on markup or coding.
You can display the context menu on the application bar using the silverlight toolkit. When the first time windows phone 7 didn’t gets the tap and hold control we need to code the event. As we know that List-boxitem responds to Mouse Left button for up and down. This functionality not included in the developer toolkit yet. There are no suggestion about the tap and hold on a menu.
There is a demo API you can check it out using this link that utilizes implementing of a context menu.There also may be chance that upcoming RTM tools or Windows Phone Toolkit may appear this control. so you have to wait for a while until Microsoft brings it market. this control uses different way to pick the specific task.
