Bad Signal after 4.1 update (no it'snt an hardware issue)
Hello....
Hi there, I am facing some problem which is regarding to the software upgrading of my iphone because of this I am suffering from bad signal issue
I upgraded my iPhone 3GS from 4.0 to 4.1 yesterday. After the upgradation the signal is very poor.
When i enter in the field test i get:
-92 db if the phone is on the table
-110 db if i take it in hand.
The problem is not over yet..In some situations where i could get excellent signal support at that places also i started getting low signal frequency..
- With 4.0 i can make call from elevator, now with 4.1 i get: searching, and then no signal.
- Same thing happens when i walk over the stairs
- At home where with 4.0 i had full signal now only -89 db.
- The problem is not with the hardware but i think it is rather with the software... Please help me out of this problem as i am not able to talk properly on my cell...
Re: Bad Signal after 4.1 update (no it'snt an hardware issue)
I had the similar problem with my iphone. I was dropping calls where before i could have a full conversation with the people. You can try for resetting your network settings. After doing all the settings again i still have low signal problem but i am not dropping calls anymore. So you can try and go to Settings - General - Reset. Click on reset network settings. It will take about 5-10 mins and you should see an improvement. I hope this information will help you out to find a solution for your problem...
Re: Bad Signal after 4.1 update (no it'snt an hardware issue)
Hey i have already tried this out by setting all the things but nothing worked out.. There must be something wrong with the new baseband. I have now upgraded the phone to ios 4.2 beta 2, and downgrade it again. So after this i got a new baseband 05.15.01..After this i can finally use my phone, but still the signal is poor (At the most 2-3 dashes). I think the problem is definately with the network and not with the ipnone..

Hey i had the same problem with my iphone, sometimes no signal at all or just 1 or 2 bars even when right near a tower. One thing after research i have found that after disabling 3G, my iphone signal has greatly improved. I think it is worth to do so while you wait for apple to fix this (That is also not certain that they will fix your problem). I think you must try for this and check whether it is worth taking such action or not.
Re: Bad Signal after 4.1 update (no it'snt an hardware issue)
You can try for the software updation in your iphone because sometimes what happens is you may have all your hardware settings properly installed in your phone but due to some software failure you might face this kind of problem. Also confirm that you made it disable the "processor hog" known as spotlight search. Because everything you type is compared to the search and that slows everything down possibly taking processor from signal. So you can try out for checking the settings by simlpy going to Settings - General - Home Button - Spotlight Search and uncheck all categories. I think it Should speed up your things a little.

I tried this, by setting all the things but nothing worked out.. There must be something wrong with the new baseband. I have now upgraded the phone to ios 4.2 beta 2. After completing all this thing i got a new baseband 05.15.01. You can just check for the software updation in your iphone. Because sometimes due to software failure these kind of problems arises . I think the problem is definately with the network and not with the iphone. After this i can finally use my phone, but still the signal is poor (3 dashes at the most).
Re: Bad Signal after 4.1 update (no it'snt an hardware issue)
I think the problem is not concerned with the hardware of your phone but it is rather related to the software issue of your phone.. It is also not concerned with the network because rest every user is using the same network but they dont have any problem with that. So it is definately related to the operating system you have installed in your iphone. So again try to reload the same software. If still your problem is not solved then you have to go for some servicing of your iphone. I hope this information helped you to fix your problem..
