I have recently purchased new computer and I had installed windows operating system on the same. With that I also want to install other operating system like Mac or Ubuntu. I had not yet done this and hope that this thing will be simple. I need anyone from Mac and Ubuntu to go for. Compare to Mac, I had seen it is lot more easier to use Ubuntu on the same. But I am yet not able to figure out how to install that. I am having a iso file with me. I had copied that on a DVD.
In any case, Apple does not sell a retail dvd for dual boot. As far as I know MAc only comes pre-installed in Macbooks. But still you can try your luck finding out the dvd on web. And before getting that you also have to see whether it is goign to work on your system or not. It is a resource intensive operating system. Most of the hardware are not at all compatible with Mac. They design it to work only Mac systems.
We now know quite well the concept of LiveCD. It runs an operating system ( usually Linux ) in RAM from a CD or DVD that can later on used to installed on the hard drive. That is the fastest way of installing this operating system. You can also try using a USB for the same. Just for testing I will recommend you to boot the system with CD/DVD first and test whether you will be able to use the same or not. If you are thinking it is too confusing then you can try using any other edition of Linux. I will not recommend you to use Mac.
To use mac you need a very high end hardware. You also need a high end hardware also. Compare to that installing Linux is lot more easier and simple. Because it comes in virtual mode also. It is really good if you can start with the testing part first. Because Linux based OS needs a separate partition to work. And then it will also replace the bootloader with grub. It is not very simple to use. If you are only doing this for backup purpose then you can try using third party software like Norton Ghost to create a full system image. And then use it for the restoring purpose.
You cant find Mac live disc on web. This OS is very demanding and to use it you have to buy the OS DVD on the basis of processor compatibly. For Linux things are simple. You can find a full guide and even some videos on youtube. Which shows you step by step process for the same. You have to prepare your system before doing the same. Like creating a partition, reserving a space for swap file, etc.
