Re: Can't enable the "Use GPU acceleration" option with ubuntu
Besides this correction very important , other studies have been made, including:
* The main library has undergone some improvements libVLC
* Several corrections to the interface
* The resolution of a bug with reading lists
* A correction of concern that could potentially crash the application when entering standby Windows
* The disappearance of the bug that could cause a crash if the folder My Documents is not available.
Re: Can't enable the "Use GPU acceleration" option with ubuntu
The major correction is on the management of ATI's GPUs . Once the Catalyst 7.10 drivers are released , the hardware decoding will be provided by the GPU via the Canadian manufacturer DxVA2 . Problems had been raised with VLC 1.1 and that required a rapprochement with AMD to settle the details . But who said said Catalyst 7.10 Windows: Linux is not concerned, and Mac OS X is dependent on Apple's advanced API that is used for graphics acceleration .
Re: Can't enable the "Use GPU acceleration" option with ubuntu
VLC 1.1 manages the hardware acceleration , so do not worry now is not the final version but I have tested a beta version named VLC 1.1.0 git - The Luggage Funny name for this version which is already very functional still more to activate the function that handles graphics card GPUs just go to Tools , Preferences and then reading and codecs and check the box " Use GPU acceleration.
Re: Can't enable the "Use GPU acceleration" option with ubuntu
The step of retrieving data within the GPU seems more complex than NVIDIA and request the establishment of a specific solution. 4670 Radeon for now the teams have decided to VLC through the function MOVNTDQA introduced in SBS 4.1 to improve things, which is not optimal . In effect, this limits the proper functioning of the application compatible processors. Of course, we linked the VLC developers with AMD teams which seem to have indicated a more viable solution for data recovery within VLC.
