No Picture in VLC 1.1.0 and 1.1.1 on nVidia cards
I installed vlc 1.1.0. My router is configured correctly for vlc to FC6 ( 1234 , 59382 , 59383 redirected to my IP address )For my testing I disabled the firewall ( / etc / init.d / iptables stop ) . For security we'll see , but I think there are problems of disabling the Firewall through the GUI. VLC starts but I get sound but no picture . The display console gives several messages :libdvbpsi error (PSI decoder ): TS discontinuity ( Received 8 Expected 0 ) for PID 1285. Same issue with VLC 1.1.1. Please help. Thanks in advance.

If you have a fairly recent drivers that it may be that you do not have access to some functionality of your graphics card , such as the ability to have multiple desktop . Indeed strangely drivers or install the most recent no utility "NVIDIA nView Desktop Manager " in Control Panel. Forget or mistake, is still He commend that this is not cool. Luckily , with my habit ( good or bad) to search everywhere I found a way to solve this problem . To do this, go into the " preferences " VLC
Preferences = > Input / Codecs => Others = codecs > FFmpeg
Click on " Advanced Options " , and search field.

VLC goes to you and you change your options : Click on Settings and select Preferences. Expand Video and click on Output modules. Check Advanced options in the lower right corner. Set Video output module to either " DirectX " , " OpenGL "or "Windows GDI ".

Re: No Picture in VLC 1.1.0 and 1.1.1 on nVidia cards
I had just sometimes worry a bit like your own, and which only occurred with VLC - and also my instructors in the Avid editing interface. While at the same time, other players like MPC HC or MPlayer ( or WMP , but I never use it ! ) provided a color rendering correct them, It occurs only on the laptop. Each time, it was drivers " modded " inappropriate (at the time when Nvidia did not provide further updates on the official Forceware for laptops ). Drivers sometimes forced me to shift completely color calibration (gamma, contrast, brightness , smoothness, etc. . ) => these settings affect forced VLC and my monitors assembly. I paid the driver update in order to find the right (test / re - test / re -re -test , etc. You can also look towards the adjustments VLC Preferences / Video / Exit > test the different outputs of the menu.
