Gateway P-7811-FX Crashing Issue
I get an Gateway P-7811-FX on which there is no entering Ethernet, and I want to connect. The problem is that among the available cable came back I was no idea that was used to connect the cable that will allow me to put this computer on the Internet. What I would like to know what it is old (I guess) cable (Ethernet?) I need and what port should I used. Please help.
Re: Gateway P-7811-FX Crashing Issue
The package is complete: router power adapter, straight cable for configuration and connection with RJ-45 and finally a CDrom useless! It requires a basic knowledge so before you start really looking at the forums the DNS of your ISP and the type of modulation on your line. Finally you will need your username and password to login and run you. I use it for several months and no claim to deplore. I directly flashed with firmware 1.05 (for compatibility with the services of DynDNS dynamic DNS redirection) and I've stuck an antenna. Last tip imperrativement use WPA-PSK, WEP is crackable in two hours, I could test it with a Linux distribution designed for this purpose. Super gear, I recommend it!

You can share your Internet connection to your pc via wifi with a single computer ad hoc . All you need to go into the network connection right click on the wireless connection , then property , sharing tab and tick the box " share this connection with ...." parameter and then you your WiFi network with the 2nd and it's over. Normally it can configure the other card with the ip 192.168.0.1 . All you need to use the same ip address range for the 2nd pc.
Re: Gateway P-7811-FX Crashing Issue
You need to call your network space ssid, Network Authentication : Open, Encryption : wep, then you untick " the key is provided for me automatically. Network key : "what you want but 5 or 13 characters ". In Ubuntu , a program sense life easier during network configuration , Network Manager configures your network config files in your place and do not let yourself do what you want , and then just command line (when you restart, is the default config returning) . So it leaves a file / etc / network / interfaces that contain information on localhost.
Re: Gateway P-7811-FX Crashing Issue
sharing a wired connection , is your wireless card which is configured to 192.168.0.1 and your ethernet card which is connected to your modem remains with the same IP . So it is enough for you then for your 2nd PC , which will be connected over wifi with your pc first , assign an ip on the same track on the 192.168.0.0 network . Do not forget to define the ad hoc network the 2 pc.
Re: Gateway P-7811-FX Crashing Issue
When a Windows Internet Connection Sharing is that the second card has the address 192.168.0.1. Must address the second PC is p.exe 192.168.0.2. So the network PC1- PC2 is 192.168.0. X .As the network is a PC1- Freebox second network ( PC1 acting as a gateway ), it can not be the style 192.168.0. X. We must therefore set the freebox for the 192.168.1. X instead of 192.168.0. X.
