How does my gtx470 compare with a 5870
I need some help to determine a proper difference between GTX 470 and ATI 5870. I have some list of games which are supported by both the cards. Recently I purchased a widescreen monitor. I need a card which can provide me a much higher resolution and for that I have this two choices. But both have lots of similarities. So on what basis they can be compared.
Re: How does my gtx470 compare with a 5870
I played Far Cry 2 which gaved more advantage and better performance on GTX 470. I have a wide screen monitor and GTX card attached to the board. The resolution offered by the same was awesome. I had watched some videos of the game which were played on ATI 5870 and that was not so impressive. I will recommend GTX in place of 5870 for better resolution.
Re: How does my gtx470 compare with a 5870
Anyhow the GTX is faster than 5870. I had found in some benchmark reports that GTX is 10-15% faster than HD 5870. This would indeed again the fastest NVIDIA single-chip graphics card, but the gap falls to ATI's products for the late release of relatively low. More clearly than in the overall performance will be the advantage of the GTX is better for gaming support.

GT100 chip has no dedicated hardware components for specific tasks. This are the architecture on which the GTX 470 is based but all the calculations in the member to CUDA cores running stream processors are expected to decrease with increasing of 3D load. NVIDIA is the same way work with PhysX to reduce such effect while playing games. GT100 can perform extremely complex calculations PhysX, PhysX in games themselves must share the power reserves but with the other effects.

I found both the card as almost identical to support. The 1 GB of RAM for each card will stand you in good stead for any video editing lappy matter what you choose Both have decent HD capabilities as well. To be honest if the ATI Nvidia on tangible performance benefits. But at the expense of battery life. If you have a Core i5 processor on your system then ATI can give you a better output.
Re: How does my gtx470 compare with a 5870
I guess best bet would be to go for GTX 470 forgetting about the mobility of ATI 5870. The GTX should play pretty as well here. Here the choice between this two card really confuses for video editing software. You will see very sensitive gains to use a better processor, more RAM, and a good GPU as you can afford, especially if you plan to do HD or 3D rendering. Or else for gaming there are very less choices.
Re: How does my gtx470 compare with a 5870
The GeForce GTX 480 is positioned to cost somewhere between Radeon HD 5970, two-GPU solution, and Radeon 5870, the GeForce GTX 470 price is positioned midway between Radeon HD 5870 and Radeon HD 5850. GF100 NVIDIA GPUs incorporate 512 stream processors internally or CUDA Cores as indicated by NVIDIA. They are designed to provide high end supports on the system.
