Need to find HDD size for chipset
Hello there, The company in which I am working is having a Dell Poweredge 800 server which has 4Gbs of RAM and has two hard drives connected. Each of the hard drive has 80gbs of capacity. Now I the company wants to increase the hard drive capacity of the server from 80Gb to the maximum it can support and hence I need to the HDD size for the Intel E7221 Chipset. Does anybody here have any idea about it? Any help regarding the issue is more than welcome. Thanks in advance.
Re: Need to find HDD size for chipset
The maximum hard drive which can be supported by the computer depends on the operating system installed on the computer. The memory locations which can be addressed on the hard drive are limited by the operating system and hence the limit of the hard drive depends on the operating system. Check the limit of the hard drive for the operating system which you are using and increase the hard drive as needed.
Re: Need to find HDD size for chipset
The best way to know the maximum capacity of the hard drive which is supported by the Dell Poweredge 800 server is to contact the Dell systems customer support. The customer support of Dell systems will provide you with the exact specifications of the server and the maximum limit of all the peripherals which are connected to it.
Re: Need to find HDD size for chipset
Full information about the Dell Poweredge server must be available on the official website of Dell. Go to the official website of Dell and click on the Products button. Select Small Business Servers and select Poweredge 800 from the drop down list. Now you will be redirected to the Poweredge 800 products reviews. Locate and click on the Tech Specs button and check all the specifications of the server. You can also download the technical specifications in the PDF format for further reference.
Re: Need to find HDD size for chipset
The size of the hard drive or detection of any device which is connected to the computer is dependent on the BIOS of the system. If the BIOS of the system is outdated, it will not detect the full capacity of the hard drive or any new device which is connected to the computer. Hence first check with the version of BIOS used in the server before increasing the hard drive capacity.
Re: Need to find HDD size for chipset
As you know the number of the Intel chipset installed on the Dell server, you can refer the technical datasheet of the Intel chipset on the official website and check the maximum hard drive size which is supported by the Chipset. You can get the datasheet for the chipset on the Intel website.
