Migration from Free download Manager to uTorrent

Hi everyone ,

I have been installed the Free Download Manager ( FDM V3.0) to download the required things from the torrents. I currently need to move on to work with the uTorrent. However, I am running with some downloads going on in FDM which is close to be complete at 70% . Could you please suggest me about the process or any method through which I can associate these to uTorrent so that download can be continues from current status For example . 70% complete and not from starting point of the download procedure ..

There are some of the files that you have just need to seed, others have not completed downloading yet. Unlike traditional file sharing software tools , the BitTorrent protocol comes up with a reference file called as the torrent (XXXX_the_subject.torrent). The torrent is what you actually download from the indexed site. The torrent is some bit different from the things which you will ultimately be using/viewing/listening to. From this point on, "files" will refer to the content while ".torrent" regards to the reference file.

There are some clients will modify partially downloaded files with an advance extension in order to lock them and store them from being accidentally retrieved by different unauthorized applications, which might cause some issues with the downloading process (µTorrent also does the same , if requested, by modifying the extension .!ut to its files).

For µTorrent to be continued , those partially downloaded files these advance extensions must be deleted. It can be tedious but there is nothing to this . We can however create a small batch file which will make tasks very simple.

• Open the Notepad and write the following statement into this (replace "bc!" with which ever file extension you require to delete):
  @for /r %i in (*.bc!) do @move "%~fi" "%~dpni"
• In Notepad, File => Save As: RENAME.BAT
• Browse the directory path for the partially downloaded files you required to rename this .
• Drag and drop the RENAME.BAT file within this directory..
• Right click on RENAME.BAT => Open; a DOS window whihc will briefly display as it scrolls through entire files in the directory as they are getting renamed.

Loading a one and only torrent for seeding is easy enough given as you are aware about the location of the .torrent and the files.

1- From the µTorrent, click File => Add Torrent (no default save)
2- Open your way to the .torrent file you need to seed and choose.
3- Open up your way to the directory where the files are addressed and choose the directory.

The torrent should come up in the torrent window and load (you will get the % climb up as µTorrent finds the file in this way ).

For sorting causes, you may move for your recently reloaded files to be stored onto another location. This is simple enough but should be completed with a single torrent at a time.

You should just stop the torrent, you desire to move in the torrent list in µTorrent. Replace the files to the another destination according to your choice (for more than one files move the existing directory as a whole) From the µTorrent, make a right click => Advanced => Set Download Location ... Open up the location where you have replaced the files. Start the torrent now.
