Re: ATI Proprietary driver not compiling on Linux kernel
I suggest you to download the Catalyst final 9:11 for Linux. You no longer have to wait, then use it now already. It supports all current Radeon graphics cards desktop and workstation graphics cards it of course. Change log is as follows.
- openSUSE 11.2 early look support
- RHEL 4.5 production support
- Cleanup CCC-LE shortcuts
- CCC-LE Reduced startup time in some situations
- Improved visual quality of RandR 1.3 arbitrary transformations
- Add four new GLXFBConfigs to support 32-bit ARGB visual
- Stability improvements
- RandR fixes
- Multi-display fixes
- OpenGL fixes
- Amdcccle fixes
Re: ATI Proprietary driver not compiling on Linux kernel
I think you have installed a wrong driver because of which this card would not be giving you the enough support on your Linux kernel system. I think you should directly go to an official web site of an ATI where they must be having the proper driver for the Radeon HD 5770 to run on linux kernel system. Please note that before you begin with installing the latest driver, You should remove an older one completely.
Re: ATI Proprietary driver not compiling on Linux kernel
I guess you must be getting some kind of error while you to try to use the video card which you have installed on your linux operating system. Actually as you have not provided an error message which you are getting on your system, I am not able to understand problem accurately. If you mention an error message then i guess i would be helping others as well to sort out your problem.
Re: ATI Proprietary driver not compiling on Linux kernel
If the drivers installed from an official web sites for your linux system does not works then i think you should use an open source drivers made for running the ATI HD card on a linux system. Though i do not have any idea about those open source drivers but i guess they must be working, You just need to install the one according to your operating system.
Re: ATI Proprietary driver not compiling on Linux kernel
I am using the 5770 video card and after using several drivers i have came to know that only vesa and fglrx seems to be working. That means that i have added this repo to my /etc/pacman.conf file and then run the following code.
Code:
pacman -Syy
pacman -Suu
pacman -Rd libgl
pacman -S catalyst
