I own a desktop PC which I assembled a year ago. But due to some unknown reasons I am experiencing random system crash issue. While playing most of the games my PC shutsdown on its own. I do not get any error messages. I have installed very recently SIMS III and I have been playing Counter-Strike and Unreal Tournament on my PC. My configuration is:
- Operating System: Windows XP Service Pack II.
- Processor: Intel Quad Core.
- Graphics: nVidia geForce 9600 GT 512MB.
- RAM: 2 GB DDR2.
Either I guess the installed files of your games are corrupted or there is some system incompatibility. For first I advice you to check that the games are properly installed. You can try re-installing the games again. Though this is a tedious process but if the game setup is wrong this might just be the adequate required solution.
The problem in my case was with my RAM stick. When I installed recently Assassin's Creed 2 on my Asus desktop the game used to crash very often. I had the required graphical support but still the game never executed without a crash. I then replaced my RAM stick and that just worked well for me. SO thus it can be due to a faulty RAM stick.
There are a number of reasons that may cause such random reboots or system crash while playing high-end graphical games. One of which is the issue caused by your motherboard if it has gone bad or any chip on it is not working. It might be the BIOS needs to be updated. My recommendation is that you first update the BIOS of your motherboard as well as re-install the drivers.
If the problem is only caused while playing games then you can probably mark it as an issue with your computer graphics. So in your case it can be the nVidia graphic card is causing the system to turn off while playing games. So to fix this, unplug the graphic card and fix it back in making sure that it is not bent and properly fit in its socket. If even after this the problem persist. the issue has to be with your graphic card. I suggest you to use a compatible ATI Radeon graphic card.
what power supply do u have...
If you have an smps which came with your cabinet change to an 450w or 550w true power smps...
this problem is definitely due to power supply
check your SMPS
Change it to 500 w true power :thumbup1:
