Overview of MS-DOS commands
Hello,
I have used nearly all the editions of the windows operating system from 98 but never used the command prompt to do the same task happened easily in the graphical environment and it is fact, no one will use the commands for simple tasks.
But I need to know about all the commands can be executed on the command prompt of windows xp.I used the help command to get the list of commands but it is not enough to do all things,can you introduce me about some more commands. I need your help ...!!!!!

Well, You know the graphical environment which you are getting and using mouse,you can drag and drop everything on one place to another place on the disk.
It was not available when the Windows was introduced first,The hard disk was not being used at that time when it is developed,The entire operations are done upon the floppy drives and everything is happened when you execute the command.
A lot of command are associated with the DOS,you have to specify exact option with the command and command would perform well as you need.

There are three types of commands category is used in the DOS command prompt -
1- External command
2- Internal command
3- recovery command
These are three categories of the commands,generally you wouldn't see the recovery type but it is also one of the part of command including - listsvc, logon , map, etc comes in the category of recovery.

This types of commands do not need any specific files for execution of the commands and are brought into the computer's memory as quick as the computer is getting startup. External commands:
The external commands need some specific DOS files for its execution in the memory and other area required. The commands introduced in this category are :
FORMAT, CHKDSK, XCOPY, PRINT, ATIRIB, DISKCOPY, etc.
You need not have all these types of files in your system. During the copying procedure of these files onto your system, you need to alert that they should be compatible with same DOS version currently installed in your system. Otherwise, you can get some issues in future.
