Is anyone help me to aware about different types of the firewall?

The only thing which I know about firewall is that, firewall is used to restrict the particular web-site

Please let me know in detail about the different type of the firewalls.

Basically there are two types of the firewalls which are as below:

1.Network layer firewall:

Application layer firewall take decision which is based on the address of the destination , source addresses as well as ports information within every IP(Internet protocol) packets.

2.Application layer firewall:

Application layer firewall are basically hosts which runs proxy servers, which doesn't allow traffic within different networks and also perform detailed auditing and logging .

*.Packet Filtering: This type of the firewall is essential to block the packets of the selected networks.

*.Circuit Level Relay: This type of the firewall essential to connects cross links to other connection which is outside. "SOCKS" is the best example of the Circuit Level Relay

*.Application Proxy Gateway:This type of the firewall is useful to connect the outside user by the use of proxy.Proxy is useful to for recording the activities.

Circuit-Level Firewalls monitors the handshaking of TCP(Transmission Control Protocol) within packets to confirm legitimate session.

Circuit-level firewalls is used to hide the particular network from outside network word.

Application Level firewalls used to look thoroughly into the application data which is passing from filters

Stateful Multilevel Firewalls used for filtering the packets at the network level as well as they process data of the Application Level
